For residents who have magazines and books they wish to discard, one excellent way of recycling is to donate them to one of the area libaries. They appreciate it and it "recycles" the magazine and book in a useful and effective way.
If you desire, it also is a tax deduction and the library will provide the documentation (the list of items donated)upon request. I always get a good feeling about donating the magazines (and especially books) in this manner. I feel much better about donating a book where I know someone else can read it. I probably couldn't bear to discard the books I no longer need if I just had to throw them away or knew they would be destroyed!
