City of Lakeland to host Lakeland Outdoors Festival Saturday, May 4, 2013.
LAKELAND, Tennessee (May 04, 2013) - The City of Lakeland will host the 2nd annual Outdoors Festival at International Harvester Park (4523 Canada Road) on May 4th, 2013 from 9a to 1p, rain or shine.
Music and entertainment by Rockin’ Robin’s DJs, children’s activities, and displays by local artists, clubs, and businesses will highlight the event.
Outdoor experts will give demonstrations on kayaking, fly fishing, tree climbing, camping, bird watching, mountain biking, and more.
Admission is free and a variety of food is available for purchase on site.
The event is hosted by the Lakeland Natural Resources Board and is a hands-on introduction to the outdoors. Event coordinator, Ariel Guthery, says “it’s a great way to get the children and parents involved in outdoor recreation and away from the computer.”
Last year, exhibitors included Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Mid-South Trails Association, the Wolf River Conservancy, Mid-South Fly Fishers, the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council, the Boy Scouts of America, the Girl Scouts of America, Tennessee State Parks, Keep Tennessee Beautiful, the Memphis Botanic Garden, the Peddler Bike Shop, the Tennessee Ornithological Society, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, and others.
