Mayor Scott Carmichael announced that John Aitken has signed an Agreement to act as a consultant to the City of Lakeland to assist in the establishment of the Lakeland Municipal School System, if Lakeland residents approve the Referendum to create a Lakeland Municipal School System on July 16.
Mayor Carmichael noted that Vice-Mayor Cecil Tompkins and Commissioners Don Barber, Randy Nicholson and Gerrit Verschuur and him are pleased to have Aitken to assist in the establishment of the Lakeland Municipal School System.
Mayor Carmichael noted that as the past Shelby County Schools Superintendent, Aitken has unique qualities that will be important as the Lakeland Municipal School System is created.
